Pastor Jay to speak at Saturday Morning Tune-Up
This Saturday July 5, 2008 at
8:00 AM

Dr. Jay Passavant, known to most around North Way Christian Community as well as the Starltie Car Cruise as simply "Pastor Jay" will be the featured speaker at this week's "Saturday Morning Tune-Up."

Pastor Jay's vision and leadership has guided North Way Christian Community from a small group of 18 to the 4000 member church it is now. Most folks who attend the Starlite Cruise only get to see Pastor Jay as he drives through the parking lot attending to the many details of the cruise.

Here's your chance to come hear Pastor Jay talk about his life's journey, North Way's history and his passion for the Wexford Starlite Car Cruise.

The Saturday Morning Tune-Up is a Men's Pancake Breakfast held at North Way Christian Community, the home of The Wexford Starlite Car Cruise. North Way has Pancake breakfasts monthly all year, but for the three summer months they are re-named Saturday Morning Tune-Up to coincide with the Starlite Cruise

This is a free event, so please make plans to come back to North Way on Saturday morning, July 5th at 8:00 AM for The Saturday Morning Tune-Up!

Steelers Aaron Smith guest speaker

A new feature to the Wexford Starlite Car Cruise this year is the addition of the monthly "Saturday Morning Tune-Up" the day after three selected cruises through the summer. Saturday Morning Tune-Up is a pancake breakfast, get-together and time of fellowship for men. North Way Christian Community has traditionally held Men's Pancake Breakfasts monthly. For the three months during the cruise season, they have taken on a new name and are reaching out to the men of the cruise. On Saturday morning June 7th, Pittsburgh Steelers Defensive End Aaron Smith, who is a regular visitor to the Wexford Starlite Car Cruise will be the featured speaker. This is a Men's Only Event! Be sure to be on hand this Saturday morning inside the South Venue of the church for this great time of men's fellowship! Signs will be posted in the church lobby to direct you to the South Venue.

New video program releases pilot episode

After being involved in two versions of the "Car Radio" program over the last three years, it was decided that the Wexford Starlite Car Cruise would get out of the radio side of media and move into the new world of Internet Video.

This week, the pilot episode of "Cruise Control Weekly" went online and within 24 hours had several dozen views and lots of positive feedback. The show will highlight many of the things going on in the Custom and Antique Car Hobby in Western Pennsylvania. "The main focus will of course be the Wexford Starlite Car Cruise," said Cruise Control Weekly host and director Jim Zufall. "But we will attempt to duplicate other things we had done on the Car Radio show for three years."

"Taking time to highlight other cruises and events around the area was what made Car Radio so special," continued Zufall. "We had so much wonderful feedback from the clubs and organizations that we were able to help out during that time. I hope we can provide the same sort of service in the Internet based media."

Opening date will be Friday May 23rd

As the Wexford Starlite Car Cruise prepares for the kick off of the 2008 cruise season, some tough decisions needed to be made. With the building and grounds of North Way Christian Community in the midst of a major expansion project, a number of obstacles have affected the way the Cruise will operate this year.

The many volunteers that make the Wexford Starlite Car Cruise happen every week are committed to a standard of excellence that provides the best experience possible to all those who have come to enjoy the Starlite Cruise. In order to continue this distinction, a few adjustments are necessary.

First and foremost is the rescheduling of opening day. The popular Friday night destination for so many cruisers in the area has traditionally opened the season on the first Friday of May.

Delays in the construction project due mostly to weather and some unforeseen circumstances during site preparation have forced the leadership of the Wexford Starlite Car Cruise to move the opening day for the 2008 season to Friday night, May 23, 2008. This is of course the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend.

This is a disappointment to be sure, but expecting our faithful weekly visitors to tolerate the dirt, dust and inconvenience that a project of this magnitude brings simply wouldn't do justice to our event which we endeavor to make the best of its kind anywhere. The hundreds of antique and custom vehicles that populate our parking lots every Friday during the summer deserve a clean, safe atmosphere to enjoy. We hope that delaying the start of the
Cruise this year will allow us to provide just that.

As the season moves forward from May 23rd, new traffic patterns, parking policies and other changes and adjustments will need to be addressed.

We simply need to view it as "Temporary Inconvenience for Permanent Improvement."
